What is Cyber Command?
To understand the battles our country faces in cyberspace, you need to set aside most conventional ideas you may have about modern warfare. There is a fierce battle taking place in the cyber realm that is necessary to protect the capacity for our country to conduct business, maintain communications and simply function in our everyday lives. Cyber Command has a battlefield that is similar to what might occur on air, land, and sea,only the battle lines are drawn in what is called the "cyber domain." This domain can be found on the internet and among other computer-based networks.
The focus of the new Air Force Cyber Command includes cyber warfare, electronic warfare, and protection of U.S. critical infratructure networks that support telecommunications systems, utilities, and transportation.
Cyber Command will be supported by many military and civilian personnel.
Cyber Command will create alliances with educational and technology institutions to expand protection capabilities.

- Lt. Gen. Robert Elder currently runs Cyber Command out of Barksdale AFB in Louisiana.
- Secretary of the Air Force Michael Wynne is expected to announce Cyber Command’s permanent location as early as October 2007
